Jackson Scarborough had no known history of heart problems when he suddenly developed severe chest pain at Fresno City College, before basketball activities had even begun.

The 18-year-old incoming freshman was rushed to the hospital after the college’s athletic trainer recognized something was seriously wrong and called EMS. Doctors discovered he had suffered an aortic dissection, a life-threatening tear in the body’s main artery.

Following successful emergency surgery, Scarborough is recovering. His family credits the quick actions of Fresno City College’s athletic staff with saving his life. Read more…
