Don’t Leave Kids’ Hearts On The Field
Many states have laws requiring youth sports coaches, officials and administrators to include sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) prevention in their safety training. Given SCA is the #1 killer of student athletes and the leading cause of death on school campuses, it makes sense that prevention protocol be a part of every sports program. Athletic trainers have long been champions of kids’ heart health. This training video elevates their ability to create a culture of prevention by incorporating protocol to recognize warning signs and risk factors of an undetected heart condition that put youth athletes at risk, as well as preparing their sports community to respond to a cardiac emergency.
