Student dies during missions training program at Spurgeon College

Benjamin Speidel, a 20-year-old incoming student at Spurgeon College, died Saturday after collapsing from cardiac arrest during a hike as part of the school’s missions training program. First responders worked to save him, but he passed away at a local hospital. Speidel was preparing for the Fusion missionary training program and was remembered by friends, faculty, and his church community as a young man deeply devoted to his faith and to serving others.
