CARMI-WHITE COUNTY COMMUNITY MOURNS DEATH OF FORMER STUDENT & ATHLETE

The Carmi–White County community is mourning the loss of former student and multi-sport athlete Cade Allen, who died Monday at the age of 19.Allen collapsed at his home around 9:30 Monday morning and was taken by ambulance to Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, where he was pronounced dead.Hamilton County Coroner Robert Miller said Allen’s mother was home at the time and called for help immediately. Miller said Allen had recently experienced blackout spells and had been evaluated by a cardiologist for possible heart issues. Miller added a full autopsy to confirm the cause of death was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon in Williamson County. Following his death, Allen’s family agreed he should be an organ donor.Allen was a 2025 graduate of Carmi–White County High School and competed in football, basketball, and baseball in the Black Diamond Conference. In football, he earned All-Black Diamond Conference Second Team honors as a senior and Honorable Mention as a junior. In baseball, he was named the team’s Defensive MVP during his sophomore season. Outside of school, he owned and operated Cade’s Lawn Care.

Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Church in Carmi. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the church, and again Friday morning prior to services. Burial will follow at Hammack Cemetery in Springerton.

Memorial contributions in Allen’s honor may be made to White County Cheer for a Cure.
