sports medicine physicians, cardiologists, pediatricians, family physicians, and other clinicians
Several Florida school districts (Brevard, Highlands, Leon, Osceola, Orange, Seminole & Suwanee) have adopted policy requiring student-athletes to have an electrocardiogram (ECG) for participating in sports. Multiple other school districts are encouraging the same.
Overview
This workshop will review the "International Criteria" and provide a systematic approach for accurate ECG interpretation in athletes.
Workshop Objectives
The objectives of this training is to:
- Distinguish physiologic ECG findings from ECG abnormalities requiring more investigation.
- Accurately apply the International Criteria in 6 steps!
- Outline the recommended secondary evaluation of specific ECG abnormalities.
- Discuss return to play considerations in athletes with cardiac disease.
