Fourteen-year-old Beckett collapsed during football practice at his school.

Thanks to the quick actions of an athletic trainer and the school principal, who performed CPR for more than 20 minutes until EMS arrived, Beckett’s life was saved. An AED was used to restore his heart rhythm.

Doctors later implanted an ICD to protect his heart from future life-threatening heart rhythm abnormalities. The exact cause of Beckett’s sudden cardiac arrest remains unknown. Beckett enjoys an active life.  Nearly two years earlier, his older brother was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW) during a free heart screening conducted by Championship Hearts Foundation.
