Our older daughter, Kelly, died suddenly and unexpectedly. She had been diagnosed with “suspected seizures” and treated accordingly. Labor Day weekend 2001 she experienced three seizures. Each time in the emergency room we were told we were over reacting, they just needed to find the appropriate “cocktail” of seizure meds and told to go home. Her third seizure that weekend resulted in her death three days later. A paramedic that had made two of the runs to our house that weekend called and said she didn’t act like she had experienced a seizure, that maybe it was something electrical with her heart.      More

Name: Michaela J. Gagne
Twenty three year old Michaela J. Gagne was named Miss Massachusetts 2006 this past June at the Miss Massachusetts Scholarship Pageant. As a student at Durfee High School, Michaela was a top scholar-athlete and graduated in the Top 10 of her class of 500 students. She was a three-sport varsity athlete, participating in basketball, soccer and track and field. During her senior year, she was diagnosed with Long QT Syndrome, a genetic cardiac condition that is especially dangerous for athletes because of the way it causes a response to stress on the heart.        More
